Stamps for Leprosy

Many years ago Terry McClintock started collecting used stamps for Leprosy Mission Canada. Some ladies of the church have decided to carry on with this project. We have just received a letter thanking us for the last submission saying that they hope to get enough this year to provide a cure and care for 40 leprosy patients. Please keep saving your stamps. Should you have postcards or entire envelopes dated prior to 1950, kindly send them without removing the stamps as they are greatly sought after by many collectors. Thank you.

Wenleigh Home Service Volunteers

Volunteers are always welcome to assist Rev. Burkart and Sunju Koh as they lead worship at the Wenleigh Nursing home. Please speak to Dale if you would like to help.

Membership and Newcomer Information

If you would like more information about our church please check out the brochures on the table in the Narthex or speak to an elder or the minister. If you would like to join the church please speak to Rev. Burkart.

Wendy Bourgon - Part of the (im)Possible

Wendy is a member of St. Stephen’s who moved to the village of Mbayi, Zambia, several years ago. She has facilitated amazing projects in that village, improving the lives of all the residents.

St. Stephen’s supports her work with various fund-raising projects - our youth groups are particularly involved in this work.

You can read more about her work, and support her with donations, on her web site.

Help Wanted

There are a number of committees and small groups that make up the life and activity of our church. Serving as a part of one of these groups is a great way to grow in relationship with others in the congregation and express your faith. Is there a particular group or interest you would like to serve? Please give it some prayerful thought in the days ahead.

Each week elementary school-aged children are invited to participate in Kidzone. After gathering in worship, our Staff Associate Jennifer Auty invites you to come to Kidzone to explore and learn about our faith in a fun, safe and loving environment.

The nursery is available during the worship service. It is located along the back hall of the church to the left of the Sanctuary. Kidzone is available for children from Kindergarten to Grade five and Junior Youth for Grades six to eight.

Church Choirs

St. Stephen’s has three wonderful choirs - the Junior Choir practices on Thursdays at 6:30-7:00p.m.; The Youth Choir practices on Thursdays at 7:15-7:50p.m; the Chancel Choir on Thursdays at 8:00, all under the direction of our Music Director, Sunju Koh.

Anyone who loves to sing is welcome - see the Choir Page for more information.

Youth Group

All Senior High aged youth are invited to participate in our Youth Group. Come on down to the Youth Room during worship for a time of fellowship and sharing. We have a great calendar of activities and events scheduled for the coming year and are gearing up for many events. Check out the full schedule on the Youth Board in the hall.

Junior Youth Group

SSOTH offers a program for all Junior High School aged youth, as well as special events and activities through the year. Check with Jennifer regarding the Junior Youth.

Prayer Wall

Please feel free to write a prayer on a piece of paper and leave it on the prayer wall on the back of the sanctuary. Prayers can be posted so they might be read by others and they can also be folded if you wish to keep them confidential.

Prayer Group

The Prayer Group will be meeting at the Port Credit Residences, 33 Hurontario Street on Tuesday mornings at 10:30am. There is plenty of underground parking. All are welcome.

Lay Readers

Each week our worship experience is enriched by the participation of members and adherents who read the Scripture.  Is this something that interests you?  Please speak to either Linda Lillak or Rev. Skinner.

Have You Got Mail?

Remember to occasionally check the mailboxes in the Narthex to the right of the Sanctuary entrance to see if there is anything with your name on it.

The Compass

Food donations to The Compass (The Lakeshore Community Outreach Centre) can be left in the blue bucket to the right of the entrance to the Sanctuary. Cash donations can be placed in the offering plate. The last Sunday of each month is our designated collection day for The Compass.

The Compass is working hard to improve the nutritional content of the foods we distribute. The Compass is in need of the following healthy, nutritional foods: cereal (non-sugary); canned meats; chicken, ham, corned beef, etc.; stews; salmon, tuna; canned pasta/noodle/rice with or without meat sauce; canned fruits (no sugar added) and vegetables; dried pasta (including whole wheat pasta); canned pasta sauce (no sugar added).

The Compass is in great need of plastic shopping bags for use in the Market! Bags can be dropped off at the Compass, or left in the Food Donation Bins in the Coat Room here at SSOTH.

St. Stephen’s was one of the founding churches of The Compass, and it is our largest local outreach mission activity.

Communicating with you, the members of our church is our number one priority. Therefore, we are looking for volunteers to help revamp the St. Stephens on-the-Hill website and communication brochures. We also need editors for a newsletter. Thank you to everyone who has helped with these tasks until now. We still need your help. A Christ Church Children's Christmas Musical

Sergeant Joe Sabbath is charged with keeping the peace in the sleepy little town of Bethlehem, and he likes things QUIET! When word reaches him that a band of rowdy shepherds is inbound from the fields outside of town, boisterously celebrating with wild tales of angels and such, he is determined to get to the bottom of this case! Of course, what he discovers is no simple “disturbing the peace” beef. It seems he’s stumbled upon the caper that changed the world!
